In Memoriam: Andy Klein
“We are on Earth for a very, very short time, and every day I try to make the world a better place and my community better and healthier and to make God happy every day.”– Andy Klein
Undoubtedly, the biggest champion for the Crisis Center was Andrew Klein, president of Klein Family Markets. Klein, who was tragically killed in March 2019, was a visionary leader, a volunteer, a philanthropist, and a friend who full-heartedly supported UM Upper Chesapeake Health’s (UM UCH) community health care mission. His dedication to the organization included his service on the UM UCH and its hospitals’ boards of directors since 2004 and the UCH Foundation board of directors since 2003. Klein served as vice chairperson of the Foundation board since 2015 and was the founding chair of the Senator Bob Hooper House Board. He also served as an honorary chair of the Your Health, Our Mission: Caring for Our Families Together campaign where he was a visionary and leading proponent of the Crisis Center, as well as a generous supporter. Andy Klein cared. He gave of his time, talents, and treasures to help his family, friends, and neighbors. He is deeply and sorely missed.
